Carts and cabinets come in all shapes and sizes and almost all provide portability, re-charging and security.  Always look for the following features in any laptop security cart:

• Security: Some carts can be pried open in seconds or have locks that can be compromised easily.  Pick a notebook cart with an all-welded and secure design.  If you have more than one cart, make sure you chose a keying scheme that matches your needs.
• Re-Charging: A cart should have more than just a multi-outlet strip.  Make sure it provides surge-protection, which is a critical feature whenever possible.  It should also provide outlets for peripherals such as printers and access points.
• Large enough openings and reconfigurable interiors:  Each laptop module should be big enough to provide easy access for students and teachers and accommodate larger formal laptops if needed in the future.  Ideally, openings should let you store a notebook in an “Always On” case.  Each shelf should be removable, to provide flexibility for future configuration needs.

• Sizes and accessories:  The laptop cart you choose should be available in a wide variety of sizes and with accessories such as large tire kits, accessory lock boxes and added security options.
